Kapelebyong: Face two construction of Alito Seed School hits up

The multibillion phase two construction of Alito Seed Secondary School in Alito Sub County has commenced in a high gear after the site handover to the contractor on 7th January 2024.
The construction which is funded under Uganda Intergovernmental Fiscal Transfers (UgIFT) program costs the government Shs2,153,000,000 in a bid to improve the education services in the district.
Under phase two, a multipurpose Hall, three staff houses with each having a kitchen and two pit latrines, two blocks each having two classrooms and the state-of-the-art ICT/ Library block. Other facilities include erection of a fence and a playground.
According to the contract which was awarded to Cab Uganda Limited during the handover of the site last week, the construction of these facilities is to be completed by mid June of 2025.
The facilities under construction, add to a state of art two-unit science laboratory, classroom block with two five stance pit latrine, and Administration block with a two-stance pit latrine, which cost the government over shs 760 million in phase one.
Once phase one construction is completed, the infrastructure is expected to be a turning point to the high school dropout which many attribute to the long trek of many students to schools.
While handing over the site to the contract, Ms. Oroma Rhoda, the Chief Administrative Officer of Kapelebyong district, called for quality and timely execution of the contract.
She appealed to the contractor to consider use of the local manpower and materials in an effort to boost the social economic transformation of the neighbouring communities.
Mr. Oule Charles, the Ag. District Engineer of Kapelebyong, emphasised the need for the contractor to adhere to the bill of quantities of the contract.
As the construction is ongoing, the steering management committee is handling processes aimed at operationalising the school in the first term of 2025.
