The Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) of Kapelebyong District Local Government, has warned the general public against dealing with fraudulent persons who are issuing fake appointment letters to unsuccessful applicants of the recently concluded recruitment exercise.

In the internal MEMO issued to the general public on 10th January 2025 titled; notice on recruitment fraud in Kapelebyong, the CAO - Ms. Oroma Rhoda, highlighted that her office had received a number of fake appointment letters issued to unsuccessful applicants.

According to the Internal MEMO, the fake appointment letters had been issued by the unknown con man in the name of Okurut Bernard purporting to be a Human Resource Officer of Kapelebyong District Local Government.

The same Okurut reportedly calls the unsuspecting unsuccessful applicants purporting that the additional list for successful applicants – something which is not true.

The internal MEMO was also copied to; the District Chairperson, Resident District Commissioner and Secretary District Service Commission.

The CAO requested the security committee to take appropriate action on the matter.

Kapelebyong recently conducted the recruitment exercise for the position of; the Parish Chief, Medical Officer, Clinical Officer, Theatre Assistant, Porter, Assistant Nursing Officer, Health Information Assistant, Askari and Medical Laboratory Technician.

Other positions filled were; Assistant Anaesthetic Officer, Medical Laboratory Assistant, Enrolled Nurse, Enrolled Midwife, Head Teacher, Deputy Headteacher and Education Assistant II. The position of Senior Planner had also been advertised but the shortlisted applicant for interviews wasn’t successful.

The list of shortlisted applicants was published by the district on its noticeboards, social media pages and successful applicants were individually contacted. The actions of the fraudulent Okurut are illegal and attract penalties.
