Commissioning of new Health Centre IIIs in Kapelebyong brings hope to locals

The District Led Integrated Health Service Delivery Model in Kapelebyong District, supported by The Aids Information Centre, saw a green light following the commissioning of new grade three health Centres on 21st and 22nd, August, 2024.

This significant milestone brought essential health services including; HIV prevention and treatment, gender-based violence cancelling, cervical cancer screening, TB screening and treating, treatment of non communicable diseases among others.

All the communities near the new multibillion Akoromit, Aeket and Alito Health Centre IIIs celebrated the new error of ease of access to health services.

After day one of the exercise, it was reported that at least two out of eight women were diagnosed of cancer, emphasizing the need for intensified community screening and sensitization.

Ariokot Josephine, after safely delivering a baby girl named Agayo during the launch, appreciated the government of Uganda and partners for taking a step to address the health concerns of locals.

She described the commissioning of the new health centres as a game changer in the service delivery frameworks of the country.

She was optimistic that the commissioning of these heath centres has brought services nearer to them especially at the time cancer, TB and HIV are still causing havoc to the communities.

While representing the Chief Administrative Officer, Patience Alejo, the acting Senior Assistant Chief Administrative Officer for Alito sub county, appreciated partners for coming to offer services for the people of Kapelebyong district and the neighbouring districts.

Michael Alimu and other community members expressed heartfelt gratitude for the services brought closer to their homes.

“We are proud to be part of this initiative, making healthcare more accessible and improving the lives of our community members,” Alimu said.

The commissioning of new health facilities was attended by Francis Akorikin, the LC 5 Chairperson for Kapelebyong, James Eudu, the District Health Officer, the sub county leaders and other political leaders.
